Johnny Roberts Running 4 Breast Cancer
Story
Hi guys,
On Sunday the 21st of September I'm taking part in the Blackmores Sydney Running Festival 2014 which is a full marathon, 42km.
I thought if I'm stupid enough to attempt to run this distance I should raise some money for a foundation that has some personal meaning to me.
My beautiful mother Therese Roberts was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2004, she was operated on 3 times and went through a lengthy chemotherapy and radiation treatment. I can very proudly say my Mum is still here with us 10 years on, fighting fit and cancer free.
Although the experience of cancer in the family came along with its many struggles, my mother fought extremely hard to be where she is today.
I am very blessed to have experienced a success story with cancer; unfortunately some of my close friends and family have not been as fortunate as we have.
This has prompted me to give something back to a foundation that helped my family and hope that one day it can help your family or someone close to you if you are ever faced with the same situation.
So please, if you have a spare few dollars I would greatly appreciate the support.
If not, id simply just like you all to encourage each other to take some time out of your busy lives to get those all-important check-ups. Early detection is what saved my mother’s life and I’d love to see the same happen for more women who have to face breast cancer.
Thank you for your support and helping to make a difference!
Johnny Roberts
