Story
Team Meret and Sophie crossed the finish line in 4 hours 6 minutes!!
On Sunday 21 September Steve Birnie and James Alderson, along with running partners Karl Brown and Anthony Osment, pushed two amazing teenagers with cerebral palsy - Sophie and Meret - the full 42km course in the Blackmores Sydney Marathon. The course took them over Harbour Bridge, around Sydney's CBD and finishing at the Opera House steps - crossing the finish line in an incredible 4 hours 6 mins!
[Recorded time was 4 hours 12 minutes from starting gun but net time (from when we crossed the starting line) was 4hours 6 mins!]
Thanks to the generosity of UBank who funded two customised wheelchairs, this amazing team of six completed the gruelling 42km course - all while raising much needed funds for Cerebral Palsy Alliance.
Steve, James, Meret and Sophie are aiming to raise $20,000 for Cerebral Palsy Alliance's Conductive Education Program and would really appreciate your support in this endeavour. Cerebral Palsy Alliance believes every child should have the right to reach their full potential. This vital program helps children living with cerebral palsy build physical and social skills to do just that.
We have a very REAL and a very ACHIEVABLE target. Conductive Education costs approximately$3000 per child per year; we have 60 children who need your help.

Cerebral Palsy Alliance needs your help to continue its vital work supporting children and adults with cerebral palsy. Cerebral Palsy Alliance provides therapy, technology, equipment, employment, recreation and respite services; and works with clients and families to achieve their goals. Cerebral palsy affects one in every 500 children born in Australia, is a permanent disability that affects movement and is the most common physical disability in childhood. Your support will help us meet the lifelong needs of people living with cerebral palsy.
