Let's Tackle Diabetes Teela May
Story
Welcome!
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page!
My name is Teela and I am running the 42.19km Sydney Marathon to combat Diabetes in September 2014.
You have the power to support this cause by:
(1) Donating towards my marathon ambition
(2) Sharing this link *you can make a difference at the click of a button*.... or,
(3) Taking care of your own health by exercising regularly
and eating properly.
While I do not live with Diabetes personally, it has affected my entire life as my mother lived with Type 1 and eventually lost her battle to the long term effect of renal failure in 2011 at age 47.
I would like to dedicate not only this race, but the training, the discipline, the guts and the grind it takes to make it to the finish line to creating awareness around
Diabetes within Australia's Indigenous population.
Lets Take Action:
- I want to live in a world where we find a cure for Type 1 Diabetes!
- Where Indigenous Australians do NOT live with Type 2 at least three times the rate > of other Australians.
- Or experience a 10 fold higher risk of kidney failure
- Or have an 8 times higher risk of high blood pressure.
