Supporting Giant Steps Sydney
Story
I'm taking part in the Blackmores Sydney Running Festival 2014 and hoping to raise much needed funds for Giant Steps Sydney, a school for children with autism.This September, I’m going to be sweating it out and doing my best to complete a gruelling course over the Harbour Bridge, around Sydney's CBD and finishing at the Opera House steps... all 42.2kms. My hope is that I can highlight the dedication and hard work of the staff at Giant Steps, and great support given to the children and parents of the school. Giant Steps charges no fees, and rely on the support of parents, family, friends and general public, and all funds raised will go to the running of the school.
I would very much appreciate any support, big or small. Your donations will serve as encouragement for me as I plan my training schedule - 17weeks to go, 4 runs a week. It's gonna hurt!

10 days to go and all I can do is turn up healthy on the day and keep my legs moving for 4 and half hours. Easy, right?

Giant Steps Sydney
Giant Steps Sydney is a world leading educational facility for children with autism. The program is trans-disciplinary which includes speech, music and occupational therapy. It is a high-level intensive program for children and young adults. The team approach at Giant Steps Sydney provides maximum support to families through the provision of home programs and frequent consultation with parents and carers. All students engage in a full range of activities which are adjusted using a range of autism friendly strategies. As Giant Steps entered its fifteenth year of operation, it became clear that there was a need for autism specific service provision for young adults leaving school. As a result 2009 saw the opening of the GS Community College (GSCC) to address the need for an autism-specific post school options program. The GSCC is based on the principles of the adult community education programs which provide the mainstream adult community with a wide variety of courses for continued learning.
