Story
Hello Friends!
I need your help, but first let’s take a look at a couple of facts most of you know about me:
1. I work for the Black Dog Institute, I love my job and I'm passionate about creating a world where depression and suicide can be prevented and treated
2. I don’t run. I can’t run. I’d suggest if you ever see me running, you should too because something is probably chasing me!
Scrap number two! In September I will be joining Team Black Dog to run in the Blackmores Sydney Running Festival, my first running event.
I’ve successfully avoided running my whole life. I’ve exaggerated a sore knee, faked asthma and even waited an extra 20 minutes for a bus to get out of running. Just call me Houdini, I’m running’s escapologist.
Funnies aside, this is pretty serious, I’m going to need to do a lot of training to make it across the finish line. It’s a big commitment but mental health is a worthy cause.
How can you help? Don’t worry, I’m not going to ask you to run with me, I’m not the kind of person to put you in an uncomfortable situation… Instead I’m going to ask you to sponsor me and support Black Dog by making a donation. Big or small, it doesn’t matter, every little dollar counts and goes towards improving the lives of people affected by mental illness.

The Black Dog Institute is a not-for-profit organisation and world leader in the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of mental illness such as depression, bipolar disorder and suicide.
We are the only mental health facility in Australia that combines clinical services, high quality translational research and education programs. We work to empower communities and help the stigma surrounding mental illness.
